    IT Support Team Lead

    Job description

    As the IT Support Team Leader you will be responsible for managing the IT support team and their duties. Close attention needs to be paid to the helpdesk and the daily flow of support tickets. Managing the members of the team to assure the load is spread and that all support tickets are resolved timeously . The role also requires you to be involved in the day to day support requests and assist in resolving support queries. A strong general IT knowledge is required as a technical for the team focusing on newer technologies.

    Role requirements

    • Manage the helpdesk and support responsiveness.
    • Technical expertise must be strong.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills.
    • Ability to manage and organise a team of technical staff.
    • Delegate duties and tasks within the IT support team.
    • Must be able to handle multiple jobs at the same time.
    • Monitor all team members and provide necessary advice and guidance.
    • Facilitate problem solving and collaboration.
    • Coach all team members and motivate them to produce desired results.
    • Keep up with trends in the constantly evolving IT industry.
    • Work alongside other departments to achieve company goals and visions.
    • Provide solutions to complex IT related challenges.
    • Perform regular appraisal of team member’s performance and devise strategies to help with improvement.
    • Ability to take proactive steps in managing problems.
    • Regular reporting to head of department.

    Characteristics

    • Must have prior managerial experience.
    • Must be self-motivated
    • Be customer oriented and professional in service delivery.
    • Trustworthy and efficient.
    • Have excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Be able to make responsible and effective decisions.
    • Must be able to take the initiative to get things done.
    • Be able to communicate efficiently – both written and verbally.
    • Be able to meet targets and handle a high pressure environment.
    • IT related degree or diploma is essential.
