    Corporate Actuary

    Job description

    Role Purpose

    Momentum Retail Corporate Actuarial is looking for an actuarial professional to join the team focussing on the development of actuarial valuation models for the Momentum Retail segment at our Centurion office. The team comprises of a blend of experience and youth, with a focus on development and knowledge share. With the frequency of changes in the financial and regulatory reporting environment, and in particular with changes relating to the financial reporting standard for the measurement of insurance contracts (IFRS 4), we believe this is an exciting opportunity for someone to apply their technical modelling capabilities while remaining at the forefront of developments in the actuarial science.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • B Com degree (or similar)
    • Progress with professional examinations towards qualifying as an actuary

    Minimum Experience

    • Passed or gained exemption in all the core technical actuarial subjects
    • 2 year working experience in valuations or a Corporate Actuarial environment will be an advantage
    • Intermediate Prophet knowledge will be an advantage
    • Previous exposure in modelling or programming

    • Maintaining the overall integrity of the different valuation models used within the Momentum Retail Corporate Actuarial team through regular review and sign-off of changes implemented within different areas of the team;
    • Enhance internal consistency between the different valuation models between different product teams to drive efficiencies in terms of results and analysis;
    • Lead projects to implement requirements relating to existing and new reporting requirements consistently across the different workspaces; and
    • Participate in company specific as well as industry forums on topics relevant to the actuarial reporting environment.
