General Purpose Of The Job

• Provide legal advice and counsel to internal business units regarding a wide variety of transactional legal issues involving sales of telecommunications products and services.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Support General Counsel in the day-to-day legal function for global corporate operations.
• Manage and negotiate agreements by providing first level global legal and commercial counsel related to RFPs, government and private sector contracts, consulting and confidentiality agreements in Africa and the Middle East.
• Provide legal counsel and support to sales and other functional business units in regards to contractual agreements, risk management, corporate and trade compliance.
• Provide internal training to regional sales sectors related to commercial trade compliance and business ethics in accordance with the Code of Conduct, policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement standard corporate policies, terms and conditions for complex transactions and various agreements (e.g., global sales agreements, distributor and representative agreements, software licensing, leasing, subcontractor agreements, teaming agreements and financing agreements).
• Support Engineering Department with development, partnership and licensing agreements.
• Partner with Human Resources to address variety of employment matters within the Africa and Middle East region
• Assist General Counsel with projects as needed and assigned.

Education And/Or Experience

• J.D required or equivalent; four to ten years related experience and/or training
• Must be licensed to practice law and be in good standing with the South African bar.

• Excellent communication (verbal & written), interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community in a quick and confident manner.
• Ability to interact and build relationships with people from various cultures, backgrounds and authority/organizational levels both internal and external to the organization.
• Previous experience in negotiations and able to support the sales team in this regard. Ensuring that negotiations are clearly and completely captured in commercial contracts.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

• Must be flexible in terms of working hours and available for conference calls/meetings after hours.
