    Business Development Representative

    Job description

    HiiL is seeking a Innovating Justice Agent for Southern Africa to take a leadership role in developing a community around justice innovation in the region.

    This position is based in Johannesburg and will:

    • Scout justice/legal startups in southern Africa, with a particular focus on: South Africa, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and with an outcome of encouraging these startups to apply to the HiiL Justice Accelerator's "Innovating Justice Challenge"
    • Build partnerships with local incubators, accelerators, (impact) investor networks, law societies and associations, foundations/donors, legal fraternities and law-firms, and private corporations.
    • Engage national and online media outlets and journalists to write and publish about the Innovating Justice Challenge
    • Assist in the development and distribution of local communication material that can showcase HiiL’s activities, the Innovating Justice Challenge, and southern African justice innovators.
    • Meet and lightly support current portfolio startups in Southern Africa, with at least one in-person meeting with two entrepreneurs in Johannesburg

    As HiiL's Innovating Justice Agent for Southern Africa, you will:

    • Receive a competitive salary based on mutually agreed outcomes
    • Establish yourself as central within the nascent justice innovation ecosystem in southern Africa
    • Work with and support the next generation of Africa's up-and-coming entrepreneurs
