    Plant General Manager

    Job description

    This role is to be based at our Bokpoort site in South Africa.

    • You will be managing the plant / subsidiary business as a business leader to ensure delivering the safest and optimized services are delivered at the most possible quality in accordance while still fulfilling all contractual and commercial obligations as per the O&M agreement to maximize the shareholders earnings.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the plant team to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operations and maintenance of the Plant; maximize the overall contribution to the goals and objectives of the Company as per the approved KPI.
    • Establish plant policies and procedures and production goals. Establish and maintain community relations.
    • Follow and implement all company policies and procedures and behaves in a manner that promotes the company values
    • Responsible for the Safety, Health and Environmental programs and compliance with all permits and plans in the plant
    • Establish and implement well-defined emergency and contingency plans and procedures
    • Establish an effective plant team, promote good communication, effectively delegate the tasks and provide leadership and guidance for the safe and successful operation and maintenance of the Plant
    • Develop and submit for approval, the annual budgets and business plans
    • Execute plant operations & maintenance within the approved budgets and in accordance with the business plan
    • Monitor and drive improvement of Key performance Indicators and report to Senior Management
    • Coordinate with the Project Company for all activities as specified in the O&M Agreement, ensure all the claims beyond O&M control are accurately highlighted and documented on timely basis
    • Carry out annual performance evaluation of reporting for their team and ensure that regular review sessions are undertaken as per HR guidance for performance review
    • Ensure the implementation of plans and procedures to achieve the optimum utilization and operating efficiency of the plant
    • Investigate and correct any abnormal conditions, review and take the lead to resolve performance deficiencies
    • Ensure implementation of established effective and economical operating methods and techniques and identify new technological changes in the field business which can be implemented to advance the operating methods and techniques

    Job specifications

    • Degree in Engineering
    • Extensive experience in Operation and Maintenance
    • 12 years experience in key leadership / management role
    • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with the Operation and maintenance of large IWPPs/IPPs
