Building Inspector at eThekwini Municipality

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Undertakes on-site inspections in relation to major impact building plan applications. 
• Undertakes compulsory inspections of major impact building projects under construction. 
• Monitors progress on approved plans and issues completion or occupation certificates. 
• Undertakes inspection of major impact subdivision applications as well as advertising and signage control. 
• Monitors and controls hoarding and demolition conditions. 
• Investigates Sectional Title applications in terms of the National Building Regulations. 
• Conducts building control enforcement, as a Peace Officer, in accordance with correct legal procedures. 
• Provides technical advice and guidance on all building-related matters. 
• Conducts site inspections relating to business license applications. 
• Undertakes administrative duties as may be required.

Qualifications
Essential Experience:

• 2 years of relevant experience.

 Preferred Experience:

• 3 years of relevant experience. 

Essential Qualifications:

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Building or any other related and equivalent qualification. 
• Must be eligible for registration as a Peace Officer. 
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree (NQF Level 7) in Building or any other related and equivalent qualification.
