Carter is looking for a front-end web developer to join our dynamic start up team in Rosebank, Johannesburg. We require a reliable individual with solid best-practice, technical coding skills and an eagerness to learn and grow with the team.

We are revolutionising the customer journey and experience to make new car buying hassle free and fun. Driven by distinctive technology and data – this is a unique opportunity to get exposure to early stage tech-disruptor strategy while executing, testing and prototyping front end UI in an agile and fast-paced way.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the coding and implementation of our front-end applications and web sites. This would involve closely interfacing with designers, senior management and users.

This is a full-time, in-house role – freelance developers and consultants need not apply.

We are offering a competitive market-related package – hence, no share options or share participation is on offer.

Interviews will be held in Johannesburg. Only South Africans or individuals with an existing valid South African work permit need apply.

Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient understanding of web development languages, including HTML5, JavaScript and CSS3. Also with a proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git or Microsoft Team Services
• We are looking for someone current in best practice. To this end, preference will be given to candidates with solid foundational training and being current with best practice (over self-taught individuals)
• Minimum 2 years work experience
• Web development training is a must, a relevant degree is an advantage
• PHP and .Net knowledge will be useful
• Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that the application will adhere to them
• Understanding of Mobile Platforms such Android, iOS with good sense of UX design is a big plus
