    Video & Multimedia Producer

    Job description

    About the position

    • The Video & Multimedia Producer is a visual storyteller with a creative mind, innovative ideas, passion, enthusiasm and high energy. As a content creator within Mpowered’s fast-paced digital team, the Video & Multimedia Producer, coordinates the development, production and distribution of digital video projects on all platforms, including social media, to support our marketing, sales, knowledge base, education and brand goals.
    • The Video & Multimedia Producer is an idea-rich individual who is always pursuing creative projects that tell the story of Mpowered and our products in ways that deeply engage with multiple audiences on multiple platforms in measurable ways.
    • He/she has a deep curiosity to learn and stay current on the latest trends in multimedia production on all platforms, including social, to communicate messages and successfully engage with multiple audiences in measurable ways. He/she is adventurous and innovative in his/her ideas and execution and is inspired by those who do it best—may it be commercial brands, public figures, corporate brands, etc.
    • The Video & Multimedia Producer will be responsible for strategic video projects from the conceptual development stages, throughout the implementation, to the delivery of the finished product via multiple channels.
    • Video productions include but are not limited to planning, scouting, storyboarding, conducting interviews, directing, preparing sets, sourcing props, composing shots, shooting and editing content with superb quality and speed.
    • The Video & Multimedia Producer is responsible for all the pre- and post-production activities. Also, he/she secures appropriate licensing rights for the use of music or other intellectual property; scout and secure film shoot locations and props; review scripts, and hire technical personnel as necessary.
    • He/she is expected to deliver the highest quality of work and displays a significant amount of flexibility and ability to multitask, change direction on a whim and work at a great speed while exercising the utmost care on presidential multimedia productions.

    Qualifications

    • A degree in visual communication, film or media production.
    • High level written and oral communication skills.
    • Tell stories visually and create compelling and inspiring narratives.
    • Be proactive with creative and innovative ideas.
    • Be energetic, constructive and positive.
    • Be inspired by the latest trends and best practices in successful and measurable audience engagement through multimedia projects.
    • Collaborate with other content creators, including web designers and developers, writers, editors, photographers, etc.
    • Be available occasionally evenings and weekends and have an appreciation of a solution-oriented work environment that is not bound by a 9-5 mentality.
    • Excellent communication, admin and project management skills.
    • Must be able to handle all aspects of production from content creation, video production and all post-production creative.
    • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills, and work well in a team environment.
    • Candidate must have advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 6 or newer including Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, DSLR and professional video and still cameras, lighting, and audio recording and post production techniques.
    • Knowledge in compression rates, video and audio codecs, frame rates, standard dimensions and digital media formats.
    • Have to be able to create video content from concept to roll-out.
    • Must be able to research projects before formulating approach.
    • Must have content marketing competencies.
    • Be a great content producer, highly creative, be able to tell a story, and most importantly, love doing content creation (and content marketing). Able to take the initiative to develop and grow in this role.
    • Be able to align content with market/customer needs. Develop, create and deliver content and related assets that are needed to create, nurture and grow our company’s customer base.
    • Need to have the capability to assess and understand a market (e.g., be able to listen to clients and influencers and identify their communicated and latent needs).
    • Understanding what drives successful content.
    • Produce and maintaining a consistent supply of quality content.
    • Be action-oriented, self-driven and a doer. Have the drive and creativity to do what it takes to get the product (i.e., video content) out the door, optimise its presentation/promotion, and be prepared to do things differently when necessary.
    • Multi-tasking. Manage many activities and prioritise deliverables in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
    • Desire and ability to work in a small company (you will NOT be just a employee number).
    • Apply knowledge and skills to design, create and publish web content and multimedia using various content management systems (CMS) (i.e. WordPress), and the Adobe Creative Suite.

    Bonus Credit (Above And Beyond Qualifications)

    • Advanced knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Screenflow (screen recording software) and Audacity.
    • Advanced knowledge of pre- and post audio production and design.
    • Proficiency in motion graphics, animation, etc.
    • Previous experience in similar work environments and roles. 
    • Extensive and diverse show reel. 
    • Strong familiarity with social media platforms and the latest trends and best practices for multimedia applications with regards to sharing and marketing video content. 
    • Use-based knowledge with regards online publication platforms like YouTube, Wistia, Twitter and LinkedIn. 
    • Interested in business-to-business marketing 
    • Masterful writing skills (a very big deal for Mpowered) 
    • Design and production of multimedia content in a range of mediums in addition to video content, like PDF factsheets, whitepaper design, booklets, infographics, etc (content will be provided)
    • Interested in promoting transformation, diversity and equality in South Africa
