    Business Development and International Coverage Specialist: Primary Markets

    Job Description

    A vacancy exist at the JSE for a Primary Markets: Business Development & International coverage specialist and purpose of the role is to generate transaction origination across Africa and BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and other identified countries to provide sales support to clients to increase listings by identifying and developing opportunities for potential listings and facilitating the listing process in order to meet individual and departmental budgets which contributes to the JSE revenue stream.

    Qualification and Experience Required:

    • Relevant tertiary degree
    • A minimum of 5 plus years' experience in a financial environment, with senior level client interaction and Africa and BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China) business development experience

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage own delivery against department delivery plan and set timelines, identify obstacles to delivery and take appropriate action where required
    • Support the sales process of JSE products to issuing banks by meeting with key person from the bank and by providing information about possible solutions or products in order to drive revenue
    • Research the market and possible solutions for clients by using internal resources such as omega, subject matter experts, JSE products etc. or external resources such as research reports and the media in order to provide the information to the client
    • Identify and research new opportunities or problems that might have an impact on the JSE and/or their clients by investigating various sources, by considering current solutions or products, and then providing this information to clients or internal team to help build awareness
    • Identify new leads and business opportunities by following relevant trends in the media, attending networking events, using internal referrals, and following up with clients and advisors to ensure new business is generated which could lead to new listings
    • Provide information to team and others regarding new opportunities by researching new opportunities, considering the value and the probability of success, by adding it to the database, and taking actions if needed to ensure new opportunities are followed up
    • Deliver work in a consistent manner by setting weekly plan in place according to priority, considering the schedule and allocating time to client meetings and preparation time to ensure that all work has been attended to
    • Meet standards by using the departmental guidelines regarding the amount of listings in order to guide work, and to offer alternative solutions to clients when needed to increase listings to ensure that targets are reached
    • Build strategic JSE / Industry/ Global network of thought leaders and relationships utilising social media, attending and presenting at conferences and training interventions
    • Meet needs of client by managing queries, researching possible alternatives and investigating the financial implications of these for the client
    • Build relationships with clients by engaging regularly (meetings or networking events), providing them with information regarding products and listings (be a brand ambassador), and being the link between departments that they need to liaise with within the JSE in order to become the main point of contact for clients
    • Add value to the clients’ business by investigating the value that can be added (with regards to possible products and listings), by acting in a consistent manner in order to build a relationship of trust.
