Senior Manager Process Safety at Sasol

Job Description

Purpose of Job :

• To support Secunda Synfuels in effectively embedding process safety by complying with relevant legal and statutory requirements in accordance with the one Sasol SHE Excellence Approach.
• Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:
• Completed Bachelor Engineering Degree (Preference will be given to Chemical):
• Minimum of 2 years at previous layer;
• 7 years total work experience (Operational experience will be an advantage)

OR

• Completed B. Tech Engineering (Preference will be given to Chemical)
• Minimum of 4 years at previous layer;
• 12 years total work experience (Operational experience will be an advantage)

1 Business/Operational results:

• Formulate the Process Safety execution plan and ensure continuous alignment thereof to the one Sasol SHE Excellence Approach
• Manage the execution of the Process Safety execution plan aligned with set targets
• Continually evaluate Process Safety execution plan with business processes to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend subsequent adjustments
• Evaluate, optimise and improve Process Safety IMS system
• Ensure appropriate content and high-standard quality of process safety training
• Consolidate and report on process safety data (e.g. incidents; injuries; trend analysis) on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis
• Contribute to the development of a process safety risk register
• Ensure compliance to the Major Hazard Installation regulations
• Utilise people-related levers to enable process safety excellence through safety learning, skills and competency development, and the implementation of behaviour-based safety programs
• Ensure the implementation of identification of key undesirable events, development in detail and rolling out the bow ties on the controls.
• Ensure that the process safety elements are active and pursued in Synfuels. This includes the control of the MOC process
• Implement of audit protocols for 1st, 2nd and 3rd party audits
• Ensure that the insurance visits proposals are actioned.
• Participate and contribute in the plot plan committees

• Translate and interpret the one Sasol SHE Excellence Approach and the Process Safety.
