    Training & Development Manager

    Job description

    The T & D Manager will work closely with the MD: HR Advisory and Head of Operations to define immediate and long term strategies to support AMSCO business objectives and ensure that the team meets the revenue targets.

     Main responsibilities include:

    • Business Strategy
    • Provide leadership and input for the implementation of the T & D strategic plan.
    • Build T & D to be a profitable business line.
    • Operational delivery
    • Drive innovation and entrepreneurship in the department by exploring existing and possible new service offerings.
    • Managing, tracking and reporting the pipeline activities within the T & D team on accordance with the budget.
    • Provide thoughtful leadership and guidance to the T &D Accounts Managers to ensure the application of the best practice methodology.
    • Design and implement effective sector specific open programmes and in-house programmes, resulting in revenue and profit for AMSCO.
    • Direct and co-ordinate the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of training activities in client companies across Africa.
    • Liaise with the Marketing Manager to ensure effective marketing activities to grow the T & D business.
    • Implement a key account management strategy that will result in on-selling and up-selling opportunities with clients.
    • Ensure on-going research and development initiatives to ensure AMSCO’s training programmes meet or exceed industry training standards and delivery innovations.
    • Develop the framework for all training and development programmes by establishing standardized methods and procedures for delivery, evaluation, measurement and reporting, working closely with the HR Advisory Coordinator.
    • Provide guidance regarding training and development practices, policies and procedures to T & D Accounts Managers and Management.

    People management

    • Ensure all direct reports’ meet customer service delivery standards.
    • Manage the development and improvement of individuals and their performance.
    • Coaching and Mentoring of direct reports in order to improve performance.
    • Align the T &D team Strategic direction provided by the MD: HR Advisory.  
    • Manage the T & D team weekly reporting and compile summary reports for the MD; HR Advisory
    • Relationship Management
    • Support the Head of Operations and their operations teams in improving execution capabilities in various relationship activities and tactical forums.
    • Maintain the strategic partnerships with joint venture partners.
    • Develop and manage existing and new business relationships.
    • Align with other business units for optimized service delivery across all AMSCO’s offerings.

    Ideal Candidate

    • Working knowledge of current and emerging training tools and learning aids.
    • Experience in managing through KPIs.
    • Able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Qualification:

    • Minimum qualifications in Bachelors` degree in Business studies or Human Behaviour studies.
    • Master’s in Business Administration or a Master’s in a related field will be an advantage.
    • Relevant Training qualification will be an advantage.

    Experience: Essential

    • Minimum of seven (7) years, experience identifying, designing and implementing training programmes and supporting the training and development function.
    • Strong people management experience including demonstrated history in developing strong training and development capabilities.
    • 8 years relevant experience within the Learning and Organizational Development.
    • Experience in managing strategy.
    • Private sector experience
    • Managing and leading a sales team.
    • Relevant experience across multiple geographies in Sub-Sahara Africa.
