    Principle Project Management Specialist

    Job description

    Principle Project Management Specialist (Grade 9)

    Reporting to: EMEA CAS Director

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the development and implementation process of projects involving departmental, vendor relationships, and/or cross-functional teams within Symantec.
    • Work with internal/external partners to gather business requirements and coordinate project plans.
    • Drive multiple projects from initiation through delivery ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints.
    • Work closely with other project leads in our Global centres; being responsible for developing and carrying out projects for assigned business unit(s), products, services, processes, and/or technologies. Monitoring of project activities ensuring the quality and integrity of the information, and providing consistency in content and "look and feel" across the organisation
    • Develop, forecast, and manage overall project budgets, metrics and other data required.
    • Established as an expert in a particular area of project management. Employs expertise as a subject matter expert.
    • Identifies new methods and procedures for coordinating the activities of employees on a cross-functional team, and reviews recommendations for feasibility.
    • Select and form various project teams within CAS. Establishes plans and schedules for entire projects, and keeps management informed of deviations from plans and schedules.
    • Plan, design, develop, and implement enhancements to project management processes to improve efficiency and quality of output.
    • Coordinates multiple projects that may span across various departments. Interfaces with employees from each of these functional areas to find the best solutions, assess impact of decisions on each of the functional areas and propose resolutions.
    • Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways. Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
    • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
    • Assist local management to reach quarterly targets by recommending
    • Participate in operational planning, forecasting of required headcount and language coverage needed to achieve business growth
    • Support EMEA Director in all aspects of communication to the EMEA team including but not limited to announcements, updates etc.
    • Work with partners to resolve issues in a timely manner; working with local and global teams to ensure this is done efficiently and effectively
    • Handle escalations/issues pertaining to customers and systems, liaising with key strategic partners (internal/external) to ensure resolution, while maintaining the Symantec brand

    The primary responsibility of this position is to manage local and global CAS projects for the EMEA offices (Dublin & Cape Town), with a view to ensuring our specific needs are considered in the decision making process. Responsibility also extends to dealing with critical issues that affect the team and partners

    The applicant will be required to present updates to the management team in both oral and written form. They will be responsible for the tracking all updates as projects move through to completion, and report back throughout.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
    • 3+ years project management experience.
    • Microsoft office experience is a must and specifically on Excel, advanced level experience is a requirement
    • Highly organized with proven analytical abilities
    • Good business communication skills, written and verbal
    • Able to work independently and in a team environment
    • Strong Time Management and Prioritization skills
    • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Familiar with Change Management policies and processes
