The position will report to a senior consulting actuary. 

Key Performance Areas:

Amongst others, the key performance areas will include:

• Providing technical support to the life actuary in several areas including reserving, embedded values, SAM, Solvency, FCR’s, ORSA, pricing, actuarial control, etc.
• Participating in research and development programmes, actuarial seminars and conferences.
• Participating in marketing, business development and tender preparation.
• Remaining in touch with market dynamics relating to client markets and countries.
• Remaining up to date with life insurance practices throughout southern Africa.
• Managing assigned workflow and deadlines.
• Ensuring and maintaining quality control procedures.
• Building and maintaining and improving client relationships.

Requisite qualifications, skills, and experience.

• The ideal candidate will be a qualified actuary. However, candidates who are almost qualified as an actuary will also be considered.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in the life insurance industry.
• Well-developed actuarial technical skills.
• Experience with Prophet development.
• Experience with SAM, embedded values, ORSA’s, preserving, solvency valuations and pricing will be advantageous.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Preparedness to travel.
