POSITION SYNOPSIS:

The purpose of the role is to take full responsibility for geological data management (GBIS/Geobank), quality assurance and geological modelling and estimation with a focus on ensuring high quality models and reports that are accurate, consistent and auditable are delivered.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a BSc Degree (Honours) in Geology or related field with 8 years post-qualification experience in a mining and/or exploration environment of which at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity;
• Registration with SACNASP/GSSA (or ROPO) and to be able to sign-off as a Competent Person for Coal and/or Bulk Commodities Resources is essential;
• Solid experience in the Geological Modelling Software and GBIS/Geobank (Or similar) is essential;
• A postgraduate qualification in geology, mineral resource management or geostatistics would be advantageous;
• Good report writing and presentation skills are essential.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Resource Estimation - Responsible for resource modelling, reporting and declaration of coal resources;
• Geological Data Management – Management of overall geological data to ensure its quality, compilation and validation;
• Maintaining a database that has no errors;
• Geological Interpretation – Generation of lithological, structural, mineralization and alteration interpretation models;
• Provision of technical geology expertise to other functions within the Region including Projects, Exploration and Production.
