A Senior Java Developer position is available in the APS team to work on dynamic new projects and product enhancements within the web and mobile platforms in order to improve business inefficiencies, gain competitive advantage on our products and ultimately to provide better service to our clients. Using knowledge of the organization’s technology infrastructure and specific software applications, the intermediate Java developer will help the business to address changes through technologies.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The Senior Java developer must have a competent understanding of:

• The system development life cycle and can explain the Java developer role in each stage
• The defined system development tools, processes and workflows
• The distinction between business, functional and non-functional requirements and how to implement them
• The importance of delivering high quality source codes and how to achieve it
• The technologies used and the systems components structure
• The domain and business terminologies and link them back to system implementations
• The Senior Java developer should be able to demonstrate that they can:
• Develop, test, and maintain the deployed application software with high quality
• Analyse, maintain and enhance existing application and troubleshoot issues with efficiency
• Perform accurate development estimation
• Produce technical specifications and designs.
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Self-starter who takes ownership, is accountable, and is able to work under minimum supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Can help with quality assurance and provide comments
• Present to senior stakeholders
• Offer support and guidance to junior and intermediate Java developers
• Perform analysis at a strategic level and understand principles of business, technical and enterprise architecture

• Within 6 months of being in the position, a senior Java developer should be able to demonstrate strong domain knowledge and technologies in relation to the environment that they work in.

Education & Experience

Minimum

• 5 years Senior Java systems development experience.
• Java EE knowledge and experience.
• Experience with XML/XSD/JAXB, SOAP & Restful Services
• Unit testing and mocking frameworks.
• Experience with industry standard Application Servers (preferably WebLogic).
• Knowledge of OO design principles and development patterns

Preferred

• Strong Java developer who not only understands the fundamentals of OO principles and methodologies but further knows how to apply them. APS require strong Java candidates to join an exciting and dynamic team.
• 5+ years Java systems development experience
• Java EE
• Deep understanding of Spring framework, specifically (Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Web Services, Spring Security, etc.)
• Maven
• ORM/Hibernate/JPA experience
• JMS, Tibco experience
• Oracle and PL/SQL knowledge
• Presentation layer development
• JSP

• CSS

• Exposure to Agile principles and methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development
