Title : Business Unit Accountant - Temporary

Business Unit : Shared Services Centre * National

Reporting to : Regional/Business Unit Controller

Purpose of the job

To assist and support the Business Unit Controller in the Management and functioning of the SSC processes at the assigned business unit. Pro-actively identify in the solution of problems relating to the SSC processes.

Key Job Duties Or Responsibilities

• Assist the relevant Controller with the development and supervision of a high performance team
• Maintain equitable workloads and responsibilities across assigned staff.
• Undertake regular performance counselling in line with KPMG policies.
• Provide ongoing training, guidance and coaching as and when needed.
• Assist the relevant Controller in the development and maintenance of efficient Practice Management processes
• Monitor and follow-up on timesheet submissions.
• Prepare and review expense claim reports for approval.
• Clear process exceptions as required.
• Lockup- Support and assist the relevant Controller in the development and maintenance of systems and processes which limit the growth of lockup as far as possible
• Review unallocated receipts regularly and assist in the identification of unrecognised amounts.
• Assist with the collection of long overdue invoices and the identification of old WIP balances.
• Ensure that debtors’ statements are printed and distributed as required.
• Management Accounting- Assist the business unit management and partners in meeting agreed objectives, through the provision of meaningful management information and the maintenance of reporting standards, under the guidance of the relevant Controller
• Print and distribute monthly management accounts and other management reports.
• Review monthly management accounts to identify causes of material variances to expected results.
• Analyse general ledger accounts where this is required to provide relevant and meaningful information to partners.
• Budgets- Support and assist the relevant Controller in the application of budgeting and planning process for assigned business units
• Compile detailed business units budgets and assist in the discussion and review with relevant partners and Controller.
• Load detailed budgets for assigned business units in Oracle.
• Prepare and review resource based budgets and other supporting calculations for assigned business units.

Qualification And Experience

• Grade 12
• BCOM or bookkeeping diploma as a minimum
• Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of Oracle
• 5 years computerised accounting system experience
• 2 years management supervisory experience
