Job description

Role Purpose:

To facilitate international trade transactions for import / export from initiation to payment, whilst being mindful of the rulings for structuring letters of credit and document checking

Exchange control pertaining to trade knowledge of:

• Banking risk and compliance
• Compliance regulations
• International trade risk
• Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) pertaining to import trade
• Credit including customer and bank liabilities/exposures
• Letters of credit documentation
• Reimbursements
• Financing
• Section 45, 46 and 52 of Company Act (for Imports)
• VAT rules
• International Chamber of Commerce rulings for trade products
• Incoterm requirements related to trade
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
• Good judgement and problem solving abilities
• Experience and comfort with a continuously changing environment
• High resilience and ability to handle conflict
• Innovative mindset
• Able to work in a team as well as independently with minimal supervision
• Basic understanding of accounting principles

Technical Pre-requisite:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Training on relevant internal systems and workflows:
• Main Frame
• SWIFT internal system
• IBCS – International Banking Centre System
• E-Tradeline
• Customer Foreign Currency Accounts
• Foreign Exchange Contracts (FECs)
