    Credit Risk Acquisition Manager Mortgages (EE)

    Job description

    Overall Job Purpose

    Develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of the end-to-end Credit Underwriting strategy for Mortgages. This includes the articulation and implementation of Credit Risk Appetite and Credit Underwriting (Scoring, Affordability and LTV criteria).

    This role is requires strong model development, statistical analytics and strategy development experience and skills within acquisitions, existing customer management collections and pricing and profitability

    Key Accountabilities

    • Accountability: Reviewing, Implementing and Monitoring Credit Risk Appetite
      • Review, implement and monitor Credit Risk Appetite and associated Mandates and Scales (concentration thresholds).
      • Ensure business originated within stated Risk Appetite on an on-going basis
      • Manage Pricing & Profitability to ensure alignment between Risk Appetite, Underwriting Strategy and Pricing
      • Assist with development of new products/enhancements to existing products to ensure the credit underwriting process caters for changes
    • Accountability: People Management
      • Ensure delivery of business goals by aligning Performance Development (PD) Plans of direct reports to the business goals.
      • Pro-actively identify development areas of direct reports and compile development plans to address them.
      • Attract and retain talent, with the assistance from the HR Business Partner
      • Identify team capabilities and develop a succession plan, with the assistance from the HR Business Partner.
      • Accountability: Stakeholder Management
      • Review and report strategy performance and trends to the Head: Risk Management Mortgages, Portfolio Quality Review Meeting, Retail Credit Risk Committee, Group Risk teams, and Product Teams.
    • Accountability: Analysis & Reporting
      • Present key credit trends and highlight recommendations and risk mitigation plans to the relevant Risk Management Head by either extracting data from within own team or consolidating data from central MI team.
      • Oversee the quality of reports to ensure they cover performance monitoring and benchmarks
      • Enhance reporting related to industry Pricing and Profitability to support challenges to the Pricing strategy.
    • Accountability: Governance & Compliance
      • Ensure compliance with relevant Group Policies
      • Support relevant Audits and ensure any potential audit findings are addressed in-line with committed dates.

    Education and Experience Required:

    Education:

    • B degree in Accounting/Finance/Statistics/Risk Management or an NQF Level 6 equivalent
    • B Honours degree in Accounting/Finance/Statistics/Risk Management or an NQF Level 7 equivalent (preferred)

    Experience:

    • 4-6 years SAS experience
    • 5 years experience with Acquisitions, Existing Customer Management, Collections, Pricing & Profitability
    • 2 years of people management experience
    • 3 years credit risk analysis experience
    • 3 years in developing data driven analytical strategies in a financial services industry
