    Legal Manager

    Job description

    Job Description and Position details

    To manage and oversee the legal and contract management functions as well as ensure organizational compliance to legislation. Responsible for drafting, negotiating, structuring, vetting, interpreting, executing, and/or administering contractual documents.

    Job Requirements and Responsibilities

    • Cultivate and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including external attorneys, the group legal services, and legal services to ensure business is in the position to obtain expert opinion on specialist areas of law;
    • Maintenance of expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and provision of proactive advice and solutions to relevant stakeholders;
    • Research and provide legal opinion on a variety of issues and new business projects within the business to proactively identify, assess and manage legal risk;
    • Translate strategies into actionable goals and execute relevant projects/initiatives aligned to strategic objectives with specific performance measures and control systems to track progress;
    • Comply with governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements;
    • Draft, review/update and re-negotiate legal agreements and other legal documentation; and
    • Compile and monitor implementation of legal policies and procedures, aligned to our policies and procedures, to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.

    Qualifications and Desired Characteristics

    • LLB Degree/ Postgraduate Degree in Law
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related position
    • Understanding of Corporate law, Environmental law and Mining and Petroleum Laws in South Africa
    • Contract Management experience
    • Maintenance of healthy stakeholder relations
    • Business planning and management
    • Contract management and performance reporting
    • Good drafting and negotiation skills
    • Manage multiple priorities, work efficiently under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines
    • Communicate effectively
    • Able to work independently as well as capability to report to the senior management and governance committees of Company
    • Fluency in English and Afrikaans (written and spoken)

    Salary

    R55 000 – R65 000 CTC per month, based on experience and qualifications.

    Job Type

    Full-time position, based in Dunkeld West, Gauteng.
