Legal Counsel I at The Coca-Cola Company

• Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for an Legal Counsel I, to join the Legal team at CCBA. The role will report to the General Counsel & Group Secretary

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

• Legal Compliance : Ensure adherence to business standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable legislation to mitigate risk to the business and/or reduce potential liabilities
• Effective Contract Management : Deliver legally sound, commercially favorable agreements that align with organizational goals and mitigate risks by providing effective support in drafting, reviewing and finalizing agreements
• Regulatory Coordination : Oversee and coordinate interactions with government bodies on regulatory approvals and bottler agreements, aligned to operational standards against to ensure a compliant and streamlined process
• Effective Legal Support to Business : Act as a responsive liaison with internal stakeholders to address legal enquiries, provide guidance, and foster a compliance-oriented environment
• Legal Document Drafting and Management : Produce high-quality, accurate legal drafts and documents with strong attention to detail, while maintaining comprehensive and accessible records of legal and compliance activities

Skills, Experience & Education    
Skills:

• Skilled in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents, ensuring clarity, precision, and alignment with business goals
• Anunderstanding of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks to ensure ongoing adherence and proactive advice on legal changes
• Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, simplifying complex legal issues and building trust
• Strong analytical skills to identify legal risks, develop mitigation strategies, and provide practical solutions aligned with business objectives
• Exceptional attention to detail in legal documentation and highly organized in maintaining accurate and accessible legal records
• Ability to align legal solutions with business objectives, providing advice that minimizes risk while supporting commercial goals
• Efficient in managing multiple legal matters simultaneously, meeting deadlines without compromising on quality
• Proficient in legal management software and tools to streamline workflows, ensure compliance, and enhance document management

Experience

• 6+ years of legal experience in at least some of the following areas : commercial law, corporate governance, litigation, contract management and competition law
• Associate in big law firm or in-house at large corporate
• Experience in a multinational corporate environment, preferably within FMCG, would be advantageous

Education

• Bachelor of Laws(LLB) or equivalent
• Admitted Attorney or Advocate
