    Instructional Designer

    Job description

    Consultant Role:

    • Analyse and interpret client training requirements (Consult with line client)
    • Gain and maintain a thorough understanding of the Third Party Administration business and software applications offered by Silica Financial Administration Solutions
    • Liaise with project team members, i.e. Business Analysts, Project Managers and Developers
    • Strong interaction and involvement with the Silica Client Relationship Managers.

    Instructional Designer Role:

    • Analyse, plan and design of training solutions – both for the internal business and for external clients (Within the framework of Outcomes Based Learning (OBL) and the South African ETD legislation)
    • Develop all types of training material (Product knowledge, Process or system related material, Compliance training, Soft skills training, Management training, etc)
    • Keep abreast of instructional design best practices, tools and methodologies
    • E-learning experience an advantage (specifically, Articulate and Quick Lessons)

    Trainer/Facilitator Role:

    • Facilitate and deliver all types of training
    • Perform training evaluation and produce training evaluation reports (Using the Kirkpatrick/Phillips evaluation methodology)
    • Perform training course administration (Course preparation, Training attendance registers, printing of all learning material, compiling of training reports, etc.)
    • Assist by managing change through communication and providing appropriate learning solutions
    • Promote a learning culture at Silica
    • Add value to line partners

    Prior Work Experience / Background:

    • Experience as a Trainer and or Instructional Designer in the financial services industry, particularly in retail fund administration or life administration advantageous
    • Experience designing, developing and implementing leadership development programs advantageous

    Technical / Special Requirements (PC Skills / Product Knowledge / Specific Competencies)

    Core Competency Requirements/Skills:

    • Good communication skills both verbal (English) and written (English)
    • Good consulting skills
    • Good analytical/diagnostic skills
    • Good instructional design and writing skills
    • Good Presentation, Facilitation and Trainer skills
    • A combination of Functional (Training related ) and business experience (Industry awareness)
    • Experience with working in self organised and self managed teams.
    • Resilience – must be able to be flexible and work under pressure with minimal supervision.

    Core Knowledge:

    • A deep understanding of the financial services industry (Asset Management, Unit trusts, Linked products, Offshore Mutual Funds) and relevant business sectors serviced by Silica.
    • Proficiency in MS Office desktop (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel)
    • Experience in the full training life cycle will be an advantage (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of training material)
    • A working knowledge of the South African ETD legislation
    • Leadership topic and leadership development

    Educational Requirements (Educational / academic qualifications)

    Undergraduate degree/diploma or equivalent training qualification advantageous
