    Payment Operations Manager

    Job description

    We are building our our payment operations team, and moving from it being part of the technology unit to it being a sub unit of our operations team. As the first manager in this team you will be responsible, together with our heads of product and operations for laying the foundations for an area that will manage one of the most important parts of Yoco, our payments.

    Your focus, and that of the entire payment operations team, will be to help our payments business scale with ease and confidence, and support the development and management of new payments features. As part of the Yoco Operations team you will partner with our external vendors and work closely with them and the product, engineering, data and finance teams - among others, with your key goal being to delivery the best possible payments experience for our merchants and manage issues in a manner that insures our merchants are never exposed to the inner complexities of the payment world.

    ROLE | WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

    As the Payments Operations Manager you’ll be owning:

    • Payment issues from beginning to end, working with our payments team and external partners to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a systematic and timely fashion.
    • Collaborate with the leadership of the payments, operations and data team to develop the area of Payment Operations into a high performing unit within the organization.
    • Develop and design processes to manage incidents with processes that reduce the requirement for firefighting.
    • Work closely with our banking partners to resolve systemic issues effecting our customers and to reduce the number of reoccurring incidences.
    • Own one or more key relationships and manage all operational components of those relationships – including on-boarding, escalation, and business-as-usual.
    • Organize and maintain regular communications with all your stakeholders and co-ordinate with relevant members of the team to insure that the proper operation of systems is maintained.
    • Design and monitor reports and dashboards that capture deep insights into our business through leading and lagging indicators, visualizations, and early warning mechanisms.
    • Support implementation teams within the technology team and across the entire company as a subject matter expert on payment operational matters.

    Requirements:

    • 4 years plus experience in payments at either a financial institution, regular or relevant payment operator.
    • An affinity for systems thinking and continuous improvement.
    • Strong analytical skills that will allow good reporting and understanding of problems.
    • Good technical understanding of what goes on behind a payment.
    • An ability to drive necessary agendas with external organizations, which will in turn bring about timely results without breaking hard won relationships.
    • Exceptional written and verbal presentation skills coupled with ability to drive consensus.
    • Experience working with external technology partners and vendors.
