    Senior Buyer

    Job description

    The Senior Buyer provides leadership to the other Buyers in the Department. Thus ensuring that the correct quantity of the correct parts is procured at the correct price, at the correct time for delivery to the Dealer network.

    Position Details:

    • Supervise and support the (2) Buyers and (1) Hourly Purchasing Admin Clerk
    • Review and maintain processes and policies relating to General Auditors Office (GAO) compliance.
    • Raise Request for Quotations (RFQ) and negotiate new or existing service parts and packaging prices. This involves Purchase Order Agreements, Contracts, and Payment Deviations.
    • Scoping and ensuring of an adequate packaging spec for all components.
    • Assist Regional Buyers with negotiations and implementation of Commodity Sourcing Strategies for Local Sourced Components.
    • Initiate Global Supplier Database (GSDB) vendor code creation and ensuring compliance to FMCSA Finance Policies.
    • The selection of alternative Suppliers in support of the Company’s short / long term strategy and competitive position.
    • To deliver material cost reduction in line with Company’s objectives specified.
    • Monitor and control all Commercial Issues within the specified period.
    • To identify new source opportunities and obtaining quotations for After Market parts timeously.
    • Source Suppliers in line with product / service requirement – Q1- monitor Supplier performance.
    • To ensure that all pric
    • e increase requests are processed within the specified period.
    • To evaluate and negotiate all price revision requests presented to ensure that all prices are constantly kept at the minimum levels compared to Original Equipment (OE).
    • Develop and maintain the relationship with Suppliers and maximize integration with the Region and OE Purchasing.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Good Business Acumen
    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Analytical ability and understanding of the business
    • Demonstrate effective collaboration /negotiation skills to achieve objectives
    • Good Technical Knowledge
    • Understand commodity fundamentals that influence product costs

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Purchasing Qualification – 3 yrs Diploma / Degree
    • 5 years related Purchasing Experience in the Motor Industry. Preferably OE Purchasing experience
