Principal Training Officer at eThekwini Municipality

Job Purpose:

• To manage and coordinate all functions of the ICT Training Centre and to plan, design and market all courses presented by the eThekwini Municipal Academy to all Directorates thus promoting the strategic mission and goals of the Academy.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Undertakes the effective management of the ICT Training and Development Section, including direction and control of subordinates.
• Supervises the implementation of appropriate interventions identified in the WSP for each Directorate, ensuring that training needs identified by trainers are  informed by the IDP.
• Monitors a training and evaluation system.
• Assists trainers in the facilitation and administration of workshops and meetings on skills development.
• Monitors the design and development of learning and assessment materials and ensures quality classroom training.
• Guides and assists Trainers in the development of appropriate ICT Learnerships and training reports.
• Provides career guidance, counselling and career paths to ICT trainers, assistant trainers and training co-ordinators and participates in employee development  programmes.
• Ensures all ICT Trainers provide the end user support to delegates after training when required.
• Conducts research into ICT training methods, motivational systems, current relevant technologies, related legislative requirements and information updates.
• Represents the Manager or Deputy Heads as required.
• Provides information reports, status reports and recommendation reports.

Essential Requirements:

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) field.
• National Certificate Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development Practices (OD-ETDP) (NQF Level 5) or Certificate in Education Training and Development Practices (NQF Level 5).
• Valid motor vehicle driving license
• 4 years relevant experience in a training environment.

Preferred Requirements:

• Degree (NQF Level 7) in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field.
• National Certificate Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development Practices (OD-ETDP) (NQF Level 5) or Certificate in Education Training and Development Practices (NQF Level 5).
• 5 years relevant experience in a training environment.

Qualifications

• Essentail Experience 3 Years relevant training experience. , Computer Literacy. Preferred Experience 4 Years relevant experience.
• Essential Qualifications ICDL Certificate. , Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification, i.e. National Diploma or Degree., Valid motor vehicle drivers licence (Code B or EB)
• Preferred Qualifications Education Training and Development Practitioners (ETDP) Certificate or Diploma. , Post graduate Diploma or Degree.
