A leading Insurance company is looking for a Head of Software Development candidate to provide leadership and form vision and strategy of the development team, by driving the collective thinking of the team and ultimately influence the broader team strategy, prioritization, planning and operational model.

The candidate should have the following competencies:

• BSc Computer Science Degree.
• Expert level knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, with Oracle certification, Oracle core technologies (database, development, reporting, middleware) Knowledge of Toad
• ITIL Service Management Framework Certification
• 10 years’ experience in IT Software Development and four years’ experience in managing a software development team
• ITIL Service Management Experience.
• Advanced Oracle Database Technology and PL/SQL experience.
• Financial Services Industry background
• Large complex project development experience
• Application and database design
• Data architecture
• Systems Analysis
• Vendor management
• IT Operations knowledge.
• Platforms infrastructure and database knowledge.
• Up to date knowledge of current and emerging technologies relevant to the Company and the Industry
• Incident and change management
• Project Management
• Customer and Stakeholder Management

• Business Continuity Management
• Operational and Data Governance
• Strategy focused: An eye for the detail and know how to fit them together to form a bigger picture.
• Competent knowledge of several development languages, e.g.: Java, .Net, C++
• Knowledge of data warehouse and data integration concepts
• Experience in analysis techniques
• Excellent analytical (data/statistical/ information), process and documentation skills
• Data modelling skills - compulsory
• Understanding of process and project methodologies. Sound understanding of SDLC and PLC
