The company is looking for EH&S DELIVERY TECHNICIAN (m/f)* to be based in South Africa.

JOB PURPOSE

Shares with the Delivery Specialist the responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system (work processes, standards, procedures) in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate.

Provides hands-on Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Health & Safety and Reactive Chemicals activities for the New Germany plant.

Main Responsibilities

• Implements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S (Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Safety & Reactive Chemicals, Health Services) programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.
• Ensures that the environmental, IH, Health & Safety and Reactive chemical aspects of Operating Discipline are adequate and applied to achieve environmental performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of Section owner for the Environmental section of Operating Discipline.
• Acts as the Plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
• Plant contact for environmental, IH, H&S, reactive chemical issues.
• Coaches teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.
• Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.
• Ensures compliance tasks are completed.
• Performs / coordinates certain environmental, IH and reactive chemical monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the New Germany Plant
• Participates in the environmental, IH, H&S and reactive chemical related reviews and projects.
• Coordinates the schedules for audits in the EH&S related areas
• Conducts and documents investigations of incidents and ensures follow up actions to prevent re-occurrences are addressed

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS

• Working knowledge of all EH&S WP and tools, working knowledge of plant /department operations and processes, and excellent communication skills
• Aware all regulatory, permit, and company requirements for areas of responsibility and Dow audit requirements
• Working knowledge of Cause and effect process and Event and Action Tool
• Can perform work process roles, as appropriate (i.e. BBP Coordinator / Focal Point, BBP Observer, RMWP Implementer, Facility Compliance Task Focal Point (Facility CTFP )
• Can perform Identify Risks role
• Good people and communication skills
• Must be able to understand the business / site EH&S strategy and related performance data
• Knows and able to apply their client's MOC process
• Good computer skills to work with all EH&S WP and tools
• Can apply Dow Safety Standards and Policies
• Can determine applicability of EH&S tasks and activities as related to standards/requirements
• Understands Plant Operating Discipline issues and process issues that impact company environmental goals
• Knowledge of all regulatory, permit, and company requirements for areas of responsibility
• Plant process knowledge

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Chemical Engineering OR
• National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry OR
• An Engineering qualification
