    Senior Quantity Surveyor

    Job Description

    SNC-Lavalin are looking for a QS for a project based in Secunda. Project will be from 6-8 months so candidates must be available to start immediately.

    The role is to assist in the preparation of up to date Costs / Estimates in the form of Concept Reports / Bill of Quantities to the Client’s Professional Quantity Surveyor, issue monthly valuations, report all variations on a regular basis throughout the contract, and interface with the Client directly when and as required.

    Education & Skills

    • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in a QS role, specifically within the construction / petrochemical sector
    • Must have a completed professional qualification in QS / Economics / Construction / Building
    • Must have a solid understanding of mechanical and piping activities on site
    • Must be experienced with working on MS Office software packages
    • Analytical skills associated with developing and utilizing performance measures and cost savings
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills essential

    Responsibilities

    • Validate tender following award of project with the Project Manager.
    • Assist in preparation of project CPS by analyzing the tender and project requirements.
    • Prepare cash flow by analyzing the timing of sales and costs.
    • Compile monthly reports in accordance with Company standard procedures.
    • Where applicable carry out site measures with the Site Manager in accordance with contractual procedures.
    • Ensure timeously submission of claims in accordance with provisions of contract.
    • Ensure that areas of concern are highlighted relating to contract costs, sales and margins.
    • Draft pre and post contract correspondence in conjunction with Project Managers.
    • Compile SE Ratio reports in conjunction with Site Managers.
    • Identify if material purchases are scope or variation.
    • To ensure that the setup of site administration procedures which are drafted by taking cognizance of client / company requirements.
    • Ensure control of client invoicing by submission of invoices and tracking.
    • Administer payments to subcontractors and suppliers by reviewing submissions in terms of contracts with Sub-contractors and suppliers.
    • Ensure relevant legislation in relation to financial administration as compiled.
    • Resolve disputes in relation to client / subcontractor issues.
    • Prepare reports on commercial and contractual issues for the Project and Commercial
    • Manager.
    • Monitor site procurement on receipt of regular reports.
