The Recruitment Team is searching for a National SHEQ Manager to join the Sugar and Milling Division based in Westville.

In this role the National SHEQ Manager will drive risk management, technical food safety, occupational health and safety and quality compliance across Animal Feed from a strategic level to ensure that Animal Feed maintains a relevant certification, drives continuous improvement and meets legislative, regulatory and performance standards in the market place.

Qualifications:

    Relevant degree in Quality Management or Food Technology and Safety (i.e. Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management)
    Valid Code EB drivers' licence

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Execution

• Work in conjunction with the Supply Chain Executive, the Group SHEQ Manager and the Operations Executive to co-create the national Animal Feed SHEQ strategy, based on a 1 to 5 year view of requirements.
• Strategic Insight and Technical Expertise
• Provide technical, legal and advisory support to internal and external customers and stakeholders.
• Participate in food safety and food law committees of external parties (i.e. SABS,Trade Metrology, CGCSA: FSI, Food Law, Industry Affairs Forum, SANS, Act 36 and any other external party that influences legal and regulatory requirements).
• Play the role of management representative for ISO 22 000 for Animal Feed.

Total Integrated Systems Management

• Manage TIMS across Animal Feed to ensure the Business maintains relevant certification, drives continuous improvement, sustainability and manages risks.
• Deliver a service to Operations, Supply Chain, HR, Sales, Customer, Finance and to external customers.
• Ensure improvement of food, environmental and occupational safety and customer satisfaction through the establishment and maintenance of quality and safety systems and standards.
• Supplier Quality Assurance
• Manage Animal Feed’s Supplier Quality Assurance Programme.
• Develop the food safety and quality strategy for suppliers based on international standards and trends and internal priorities and opportunities.

Project Management

• Participate in project meetings to provide support and report on legal, food safety and quality issues.
• Proactively identify risks associated with projects.
• Set the critical path of each project relating to food safety and quality risk for the warehousing and transportation teams.

Staff and Team Management

• Identify personnel requirements and participate in the selection process.
• Lead and develop staff within the context of the Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Skills Development Act.
