Job description
If you are a committed, creative professional and are passionate about making a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you.
For 70 years, UNICEF has been working on the ground in 190 countries and territories to promote children's survival, protection and development. The world's largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.
Background and Justification
UNICEF promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child, in everything we do. Together with our partners, we work in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere.
Communications and information management is critical to highlighting issues faced by children and to better understanding and showcasing the work being done by UNICEF and partners. The UNICEF Africa Services Unit, based in Johannesburg, is updating its 2017 database of communications consultants with experience in subject matter such as child protection, education, child survival, HIV and Aids, and emergencies.
Scope of Work
The Rapporteur, under the supervision of the chief of communication at the Africa Services Unit, will assist in the planning, documenting, analysis and report writing of content discussed at UNICEF meetings with partners. The rapporteur should have experience working with NGOs, UN agencies, and governments and be skilled in documenting, analysing and consolidating concepts relating to topics such as health, education, child protection, HIV and Aids and emergencies.
The material will be compiled following the UNICEF technical and ethical guidelines.
