Job Summary

The Sensient Colors Finance Controller directs the accounting, financial reporting, and business planning. In this responsible position you are required to ensure the safeguarding company’s assets and the accurate reporting of financial results. This position is also responsible for ensuring exceptional service is provided to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary financial support to the company (in close co-operation with the General Manager).
• Understand and ensure compliance with the accounting practices and policies. Knowledgeable regarding local accounting requirements as well as U.S. GAAP.
• Ensure that timely and accurate reporting and forecasting occurs in compliance with company’s requirements.
• Serve as a key member of the management team.
• Provide effective financial and company analysis to support decision-making within the company.
• Understand, implement and maintain standard costing practices, which are aligned with company’s methodology. Correct and update standards when necessary.
• Direct the preparation of the annual business plan (budget).
• Perform monthly review of Balance Sheet. Work with members of manufacturing, supply chain and QC to ensure adequacy of provisions.
• Review monthly Account Receivables for the business. Identify accounts for targeted collection efforts. Manage Allowance for Doubtful Accounts and ensure adequacy of provision.
• Develop, approve and monitor local accounting controls.
• Ensure timely filing of taxes and statistics to public authorities.
• Manage the cash balance of the bank accounts.
• Occasional foreign travel.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or four (4) year equivalent in accounting.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills but specifically focused on advanced skills in Excel are required.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Computer literate and functional in the use of integrated business systems.
• Experience regarding the month end close process and in meeting close reporting deadlines.
• Effective in both verbal and written communication, including effective analysis of business results/forecasts.
• Ability to communicate in English is required as well as ability to communicate in French or German is preferred.
• Five to ten years of experience in a finance or accounting role, with experience in a manufacturing environment. Extensive involvement in budgeting, forecasting, month end reporting and inventory valuation.
• Demonstrated hands on self-starter with the ability to identify and proactively resolve business issues.
• Highly effective in working with the management team in driving business growth and profitability.
• Strong understanding/use of business systems; effective regarding system implementation and optimizing system performance.
