Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a junior level Civil Engineer with computer aided (CAD) skills (preferably AutoCAD Civils 3D) and experience in engineering and infrastructure design to support design and construction work for Orapa Mine in Botswana. Primary focus for project work will be to liaise with the design team in Johannesburg and London and facilitate site activities and transition into the construction phase.

• Support civil site development of the project with accurate drafting and design
• Design or redesign layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications from project team
• Create exhibits and documents for presentations and reports
• Work with project team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs and make corrections to drawing as requested by the senior staff
• Create and update database of design records for reference and utilization on future projects
• Adhere to discipline-specific CAD standards

Skills / Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering or construction field
• Engineering-in-Training certification preferred
• A minimum of 3 years of experience preparing design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D related to construction plan development, including plan, profile and detail views
• Mathematic skills, including understanding and use of geometry and trigonometry
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings
• Ability to read, understand and interpret, contours, top0ographical mapping, and data generated by land surveyors
• Must have the right to reside and work in Botswana
• Must pass drug test
• Background check will be done
• Must have satisfactory driving record
