AEL Mining Services, a subsidiary company of AECI, is looking for a a suitably qualified and experienced Chief Analyst to To lead, manage and facilitate technical and analytical procedures of explosives and non-explosive materials for AEL Mining Services Operations.

Key Responsibility Areas and Linked Requirements;

• To lead, manage and facilitate technical and analytical procedures of explosives and non-explosive materials for AEL Mining Services Operations
• To lead, manage and offer expertise in developing new analytical procedures, ISO quality systems relevant to ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 17020 and ISO 18000 and environmental compliance and regulatory aspects
• To lead, manage and nurture a group of technically competent people
• To be capable in managing and monitoring financial control of a business unit within budget, compliance and regulations
• To be able to make decisions on technical and operational issues if necessity arises

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum a degree in analytical chemistry/chemical engineering/materials science or in another appropriate science or engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years working experience in analytical/Research and Development laboratories with comprehensive knowledge on analytical techniques and procedures
• A postgraduate qualification will be advantageous
• Some knowledge of explosive science will be advantageous.
• Knowledge in analytical science, relevant analytical techniques and procedures
• Good understanding of Laboratory Integrated Management System (LIMS)
• Good understanding of licensing and compliance related issues and its relevance to ISO/SANAS accreditation
• Good leadership and managerial skills
• Capable of transferring technical skills to people working in analytical environment as well as in Operations
• System oriented, methodical, committed and diligent
