Job description

Responsibilities

• Ensure all systems are optimally available
• Ensure hardware and software updates operating system and applications are up to date
• Ensure that all systems and services are properly monitored
• Ensure backup and recovery procedures are in place for all systems
• Ensure that the proper policies are in place and all security patches are up to date
• Ensure that all current and new systems are documented
• R&D needs to be done on new technology to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness
• Respond to all system alerts in a timeous manner and if necessary escalate to line manager

Requirements

• At least 3-5 years’ experience within a high level Linux environment

• 3–5 years’ experience working with complex networks

• 3-5 years database experience

• 3-5 years server hardware experience

• 3 years virtualisation experience
