    QC Laboratory Manager

    Job description

    Duties / Responsibilities:

    • Manage, plan and direct the Quality Control Laboratory to ensure the highest level of analytical support for manufacturing whilst complying with safety regulations in the workplace.
    • Maintain Laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas & managing staffing, overtime and recruitment activities.
    • Maintain/manage QC results by complying with the quality assurance standards, reviewing quality control test procedures, work’s instructions, generating and maintaining records.
    • Review new test methods and coordinate implementation of new methods.
    • Coach and mentor staff in all aspect of their job performance and career development including training, feedback, rewards and corrective/disciplinary action.
    • Select, assign, develop and motivate staff to effectively carry out department functions and provide for the continuity of managerial and specialized skills.
    • Ensure instrument equipment performance by establishing quality standard, troubleshooting procedures, certifying instruments performance, arranging replacement, service and repair.
    • Investigate and report on customer quality complaints and close audits findings. Ensure near misses are reported and closed out.
    • Track product performance (statistical data) and deviations with relevant departments.
    • Provide technical support to plant and research & development department.
    • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to lab staff consistent with good laboratory practice and company corporate quality governance.
    • Establish and implement a KPI structure for staff.

    Qualifications / Experience:

    • Matric.
    • B-Tech Degree : Quality (ideal)
    • National Diploma : Analytical Chemistry (min requirement).
    • Laboratory Management experience – Min 5 years or intense supervisory experience.
    • Chemical plant exposure.
    • Analytical and instrumentation laboratory experience.
    • Management Development Program will be an added advantage.
