Proconics is looking for a brilliant Senior Piping Engineer to join the Secunda office

Qualifications/experience:

Minimum Qualifications

• B Eng Mechanical or B Tech Mechanical
• Current ECSA Registration, PR Eng or PR Tech Eng (must)
• Synfuels AIA approved (wish)
• Minimum 7 years experience in Pipe Stress Analysis using Caesar II
• Thorough working knowledge in using industrial codes and standards
• (i.e. ASME, ASTM, API, MSS)
• Experience with metal and non-metal piping systems
• Valid Driver’s License & Own transport

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Establish Pipe Stress and Pipe Support requirements for projects in accordance with industry  and client requirements
• Assist with Man-hour Estimates and Scheduling
• Perform pipe stress analysis calculations using Caesar II software
• Prepare pipe support designs based on site information and client standards
• Coordinate pipe stress and pipe support requirements and designs with designers and other disciplines
• Sizing of support components such as spring hangers, review drawings supplied by vendors
• Develop and maintain piping materials specifications and liaison with all associated disciplines to complete and issue the
• specifications
• Develop fabrication/construction specifications of all piping components and materials.
• Review of vendor drawings and perform technical bid evaluation on piping components
• Perform quality control reviews of designs/studies by verifying correctness and conformity to code and standard
• Approve AFC drawings
• Travel to other offices or job site for field investigation (as required)
• Provide coaching and mentoring to junior team members and designers
• Ensure adherence to industry codes and standards as well as department work instructions, specifications, and standards for
• assigned project
• Assist in the development and update of department standards and procedures
• Develop training material and conduct technical seminars
