    Human Resources Officer

    Job description

    PURPOSE:

    The HR Officer provides support to departments on various human resources functions such as recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, wellness and generalist duties.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND INDICATORS (include but not limited to)

    • Recruitment and Selection
      • Effective and timeous coordination and completion of all aspects of recruitment and selection processes according to set standards
      • Effectively coordinate and monitor induction programmes and probation reviews for employees appointed to new positions.
    • Performance Management
      • Performance reviews are conducted on time.
      • Facilitate and support relevant managers to address poor performance.
      • Analyse and prepare relevant statistics on performance reviews.
      • Development needs and plans identified in performance reviews are verified with relevant managers.
      • Training and Development
      • Training and development initiatives developed and implemented professionally, accurately and timeously
      • External service providers sourced and coordinated accurately and timeously
      • Wellness
      • The employee wellness programme is developed, approved and implemented timeously and within approved budget
    • HR Generalist Duties
      • Ensure that job profiles are in place and up to date
      • Leave and attendance reports are reviewed, with queries resolved, and retained for audit purposes
      • Support and advise on disciplinary and grievance matters and coordinate hearings where required
      • Attend meetings to assist in ensuring the organisation’s compliance with health and safety legislation
      • Visit and engage with employees at the satellite offices on HR matters

    QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES / SKILLS:

    • Matric, with a Degree or diploma in HR Management
    • 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in the HR field
    • 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role
    • Working knowledge of labour legislation
    • Skilled in using MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook
    • Valid drivers’ licence and own transport
    • Confidentiality and discretion
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Oral and written communication skills
    • Analytical with attention to detail
    • Able to function independently and as part of a team
    • Able to use initiative and problem solving
    • Results orientation
    • Adaptability
