Hello… an exciting new opportunity has just come available in our Life Underwriting area. We are looking to recruit a Senior Life Underwriter.

Summary of Role and Context:

To ensure that all underwriting within authority levels takes place in accordance with the agreed standards, service levels and procedures, thereby satisfying customer requirements and Hollard Life’s mortality expectations.

Education & Work Experience Required:

• Matric , Industry related underwriting courses , or medical background are an advantage
• 3-5 years’ experience In a senior Underwriting role. Preferably with reinsurance.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

• Knowledge of all basic aspects of underwriting ( insurable interest , legal , financial )
• The ability to understand and assess medically substandard applicants within authorized authority levels and within Service levels.
• Solid financial underwriting
• Adherence to underwriting practices and procedures , and any exceptions must be clearly explained and documented
• Problem solving skills
• The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers of all levels
• Self-motivated, deadline and target driven.
• Guidance and training to Junior underwriters
• Willing to go the extra mile to meet customer and Hollard expectations
