• Manage and develop Swiss Re relationships in sub-Saharan Africa with a focus on East Africa.
• Develop strategies and action plans for chosen partners in target markets.

• Drive innovative product development initiatives with identified clients.
• Price appropriate insurance product solutions within a well-defined actuarial pricing framework.

• Leverage Swiss Re's existing business relationships and global expertise within the markets.

About The Team

An exciting opportunity exists for a Marketing Actuary focusing on the acquisition and retention of new Life and Health business in sub-Saharan Africa, within our Life and Health Client Markets team based in Cape Town. This role is focused on providing a business development and holistic client management for Swiss Re Life and Health in sub-Saharan Africa. It is the responsibility of the client markets team to deliver the full spectrum of Swiss Re's Life and Health service and products to the client base and this role will be pivotal to ensuring this is achieved in sub-Saharan Africa, targeting identified East African countries.

The overall aim is to anticipate and identify opportunities for new business and earnings growth in sub-Saharan Africa through management of selected clients. Retention of existing business, proactive management of customer issues will become important features of the role.

About You

• Strong customer interaction skills.
• Credible technical background, specifically Life and Health related product expertise.
• A broad understanding of the sub-Saharan Africa life and health insurance market is essential.
• Actuarial Fellow qualification is a pre-requisite.
• Actuarial Pricing skills and experience in applying the Actuarial control cycle.
• Fluency in English is essential and additional language skills are preferred, specifically either French and/or Portuguese.
• 5+ year's business development within Financial Services / Life and Health insurance industry.
• An extended network of industry contacts at a senior level.
• Excellent communication skills combined with analytical, critical thinking, and independent decision making abilities.
• Initiative, commitment and advanced time management skills.
• Be self- motivated, thrive on the opportunity to work in a pressurised environment and be able to prioritise work flow.
• Be active in developing personal networks externally and internally within Swiss Re.
• Be a supportive team-player adding value to the business unit across multiple disciplines.
• Be willing to travel extensively into Africa as well as other continents.
