    Finance Manager Temp

    Job description

    m2m is looking for an experienced senior finance professional for a short term contract of 6 months as a Finance Business Partner. The encumbant will supports and advise the organisation by providing expert budget development, grant/contract/project management guidance and financial and process analysis in support of the organisations international operations across 8 countries in sub-saharan Africa.

    The Finance Business Partner requires a broad knowledge of administrative and managerial techniques, and awareness of and ability to be responsive to business environment complexities since the work is carried out in a constantly changing environment involving collaborative relations with specialist of various disciplines. Advance planning and preparation is key, as well as the ability to respond to new requirements on extremely short notice.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Country office financial management support
      • Working closely with the SPM and in-country staff on:
      • Management and oversight of country office budget development
      • Analyze information needs at country level and design and maintain reporting tools
      • Generate financial reports to support country office and organization wide decision making
      • Facilitate the preparation and analysis with the CFM of the monthly and quarterly country office and project/award level report packs
      • Facilitate country start up and close out activities
    • Project and Award Management
      • Working closely with the Project Directors on various projects/awards
      • Analyze award spending trends
      • Ensure that all transactions and revenue are correctly recorded recognized for each award
      • Collaborate with Grants and Compliance and the International Operations unit to ensure that all award restrictions are met
      • Ensure successful financial close out of awards
      • Donor reports
    • Reporting and analysis
      • Support various organizational units or project teams with financial data analysis and reporting as and when required. This may include:
      • Ad hoc report design and maintenance
      • Using multiple sources to conduct trend analysis to analyze and substantiate data or recommendation
      • Present data and/or analysis at various levels within the organization including Senior Management and where required the Board
      • Analyze the impact of operational changes and provide the cost implication of redesign, adjusting budgets in accordance with changes
      • Work with Senior Managers, Country Directors and Senior Program Managers to prepare project and operational scenarios and bids for proposals and new programmatic areas
      • Support the Business Development team and other Finance team members to bring together financial and activity information
      • Engage with Human Resources to lead integrated workforce report

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • CIMA/CA or an equivalent Post graduate degree/diploma required
    • 5 years’ Post Qualifying Experience in a financial role required
    • Knowledge of institutional donor requirements; EC, DfID, UN partner agreements, SIDA, USAID, CDC, etc preferred
    • Advanced Excel skill required
    • Advance accounting and budgeting software experience required
    • Advanced experience using various reporting tools
    • Portugease speakers encouraged to apply

    • Sound business and technical acumen required and will be assessed

    • Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure and uncertainty
    • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally to a finance and non-finance audience
    • Ability to rationalize work, delegate tasks, apply advanced systems to simplify work and negotiate systems improvements, propose solutions to make best use of staff and financial resources
    • Must be able to adapt and be comfortable to work in a matrix managed enviroment
    • Proven superior knowledge and experience of computerized financial and business information systems,
    • Previous experience in a multi-national not-for-profit organization at head office level preferred
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work on own and within various teams;
    • Ability to manage competing tasks; ability to prioritize and produce high level output consistently
    • Ability to implement new initiatives and processes and do so in a collaborative manner
