    Project Manager/ Scrum Master

    Job description

    Purpose of the role:

    To plan, execute and hand back to business projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.

    Main Outputs:

    • Manage allocated projects throughout the project lifecycle
    • Direct and manage projects from beginning to end in accordance with the method and governance set out by Astute’s Project Lifecycle.
    • Design and maintain project Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that support business goals in collaboration with management and stakeholders.
    • Ensure that Astute’s Projects quality standards, project governance standards, templates and code of conduct are adhered to.
    • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
    • Determine project goals and priorities with management, programme manager and/or project sponsors.
    • Manage project human resources in accordance to SCRUM Principles and Agile Values.
    • Prepare project reporting as required in terms of Project governance and Astute’s reporting requirements.
    • Develop the project concept document, the project charter with the project team in accordance with the output of the scoping session and executive sponsor requirements, including the definition of completion criteria.
    • Organise and assist with prioritization from product owner, all work into the defined stages of the Project Lifecycle and Sprints.
    • Assist in business cases in accordance with funding requirements and identified project benefits, according to the stage funding requirements of the project.
    • Compile a complete and accurate estimate of a project; manage the financial and schedule aspects of the project: budgeting, estimate to actual variance, etc.
    • Prepare project plan and obtain management approval and report on progress to plan, cost reporting, and change control and analyse the actual performance against the plan and make adjustments consistent with plan objectives.
    • Analyse risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies (RAID), establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and mitigating actions. Gather stakeholder input and rank the project risks. Maintain the RAID log throughout the life of the project.
    • Manage relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external clients
    • Involve functional expertise and specialist staff in design reviews and key decisions.
    • Manage change, to preserve business plan commitments; initiate review and maintain backlog to ensure delivery of highest value product.
    • Participate in project reviews and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
    • Create and maintain a project lessons learned
    • Engages with others in line with organisational guidelines, policies, culture and values
    • Align own behaviour with the organisation culture and values.
    • Share and transfer process and systems knowledge to colleagues.
    • Collaborate and work with the HRM to deliver required service levels.
    • Actively participate in the team to ensure functional balanced scorecard objectives are achieved.
    • Ensure achievement of own performance objectives.
    • Actively share information with other team members regarding successes, issues, trends and ideas.
    • Actively participate in own professional development and career path.
    • Ensure adherence to financial and corporate policies and procedures to ensure cost effectiveness and reduce wastage
    • Ensure adherence to financial and corporate policies and procedures, and reduce wastage related to area of accountability.
    • Comply with governance controls to reduce risks.
    • Take accountability for the management of business related risks within own area.
    • Operate within agreed mandates as documented in the business rules.
    • Manage effective customer service and relations to drive service excellence
    • Maintain service, quality and desired outputs within a specific functional process through ensuring compliance to tactical policies, procedures and standards.
    • Resolve escalated customer queries and complaints and provide feedback to customers on matters resolved.
    • Develop work routines in line with operational plans / schedules in order to manage achievement of service delivery goals
    • Measure and monitor service delivery compliance of team.
    • Share knowledge on, and participate in the creation of new standards, control systems and procedures to maintain service delivery.
    • Manage effective cost control in the core processes and ensure adherence to financial and corporate policies and procedures
    • Ensure adherence to financial and corporate policies and procedures, and reduce wastage related to area of accountability.
    • Comply with governance controls to reduce risks.
    • Take accountability for the management of business related risks within own area.
    • Operate within agreed mandates as documented in the business rules.
    • Initiative change and continuous improvement in work processes, procedures and schedules
    • Ensure adherence to organisational policies, practices and procedures.
    • Identify and recommend areas / ways to improve processes.
