Safety Officer at Merensky Timber

A vacancy exists within Merensky at Singisi Forest Products, based at the Forestry North operation at Weza, near Harding in Kwazulu Natal, for suitably qualified and experienced

Duties include:

• Implementation of company policies with regard to OHS Act, Environmental and Health legislations
• Conduct regular SHEQ audits
• Co-ordinates all SHEQ related training initiatives
• Ensure compliance to relevant SHEQ requirements by contractors on site
• Monitor incidents, accidents and non-conformances on a monthly basis

Position Specifications:

• Must be in possession of a Matric Qualification and a relevant qualification or SAMTRAC Certification
• Have a minimum of 3 years practical experience in a similar environment
• Forestry Safety experience would be an advantage
• Must possess a thorough workable knowledge of relevant to the practical application of the OHS Act, Environmental and Health related legislation

Person Requirements:

• Must have good physical mobility
• Must be computer literate
• Must have strong administrative skills and the ability to keep accurate records.
• Must be willing to work extended hours in order to be available in the event of incidents and accidents.
