    Quality Manager

    Job description

    Overview / Responsibilities

    Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Quality Manager with extensive experience in the mining and metals industry.

    • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
    • Develop, implement, communicate and maintain quality plans to bring the Company’s Quality Systems and Policies into compliance with quality system requirements from clients
    • Ensure the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization
    • Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation
    • Bring together staff of different disciplines and driving the group to plan, formulate and agree comprehensive quality procedures
    • Formulate and manage the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems pertaining to the QA / QC
    • Identify business processes, assign QCP’s with the assistance of technical and project specialist and manage the quality assurance thereof
    • Agree hold points and reviews for a group of business processes and manage the release or re-work of the technical work
    • Setting a compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved
    • Co-ordinate continual improvements of the QMS, ensuring that evidence of corrective and preventive actions taken are recorded and reviewed
    • Report to top management on the performance of the QMS and any need for improvement
    • Liaise with the external assessment body on all matters related to the external accreditation process if and when instructed to
    • Ensure that a document control procedure is adopted to approve, review and update all changes to critical documents within the scope of the QMS
    • Ensure that records are established and maintained to provide evidence that the QMS is being followed and that there is a system in place for the identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposition of such records
    • Ensure that the performance of the QMS is reviewed at planned intervals to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness. This review means assessing
    • Ensure that Quality Objectives are set by top management for measuring the performance of the QMS and that these are regularly reviewed
    • Ensure that all new staff are inducted into the requirements of the QMS related to their own roles and responsibilities. Provide update training as necessary
    • Ensure that all suppliers used by the organization are selected, evaluated and re-evaluated and those records of this assessment are maintained
    • Ensure that an internal audit programme is adopted to verify that the QMS conforms to planned arrangements, QMS arrangements and is effectively implemented and maintained. Ensure that appropriate action is taken when this is not the case
    • Analyse data on the effectiveness of the QMS and evaluate where continual improvements of the QMS can be made. This shall include data generated as a result of monitoring and measurement and from other relevant sources
    • Write technical and management systems reports
    • Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports
    • Organize and manage quality assurance function in close co-operation with the customers and with the Company’s Management team (Member of Management Team)
    • Liaise with customers’ auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications
    • Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
    • Manage and maintain the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods
    • Agree standards and establish clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply
    • Define quality procedures in conjunction with all staff
    • Set-up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures
    • Collate and analyze performance data and charts against defined parameters
    • Identify relevant quality-related training needs and delivering training
    • Ensure that top management undertakes periodic but regular assessments of customer satisfaction and those consequent improvements are identified and implemented

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in an applied science or engineering field
    • 5 years prior experience in Quality Assurance for consumer product manufacturer
    • Demonstrated experience working with all engineering, equipment and construction disciplines
    • Demonstrated exceptional written and oral communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

    • Experience in quality system audits
    • Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes
    • Willingness to travel when required
    • Knowledge of all relevant industry codes and application thereof
    • Knowledge of testing procedures to do assurances on codes
    • Knowledge of implementation of systems
    • Ability to monitor, coach and rectify behaviour
    • Good reporting skills
    • Formulate and manage the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems pertaining to the QA / QC
    • Setting QA compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved
