POSITION SYNOPSIS:

The purpose of this role is to govern the production standards, operating procedures and control systems that ensure critical controls of the production processes exist and are effective.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Mining/Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a production environment of which at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity;
• Detailed knowledge of procedures and concepts in resource conversion and production is essential;
• Experience in stakeholder engagement on middle management level is essential;
• Consideration will be given in achieving the South32 Employment Equity Objective.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Lead the Process Control and Improvement team to undertake technical analysis of the Production Function’s performance;
• Define strategies to analyse performance and initiate improvement actions;
• Own, analyse and improve standards and critical controls required to manage HSEC and operational material risks and legal obligations;
• Lead investigations of relevant Events using 1SAP Work Management;
• Define the production equipment work strategies for 1SAP;
• Initiate process control system change requests to maintain and improve production effectiveness;
• Develop, produce and maintain performance analysis reports from process controls systems;
• Provide equipment capability assumptions to the Production Planning sub-function for input into production plans;
• Assisting in the draft, review and maintenance of all identified relevant Mining standards.
