Accountant at Kurtosys Systems

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking an Accountant in Cape Town reporting to the Accounting Manager. This role provides the opportunity to grow professionally within a fast-growing company. The accountant should be a motivated individual with a demonstrated understanding of accounting concepts who is eager to learn and grow their accounting knowledge. This individual will be expected to own daily accounting tasks and month-end close activities, develop/enhance internal accounting processes and documentation, and support the team in accomplishing audit and finance goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own Accounts Receivable, including applying cash, monitoring aging of invoices and responding to customer enquiries.
• Manage weekly reporting of Accounts Receivable and cash balances across multiple subsidiaries and currencies
• Create customer invoices based on customer contracts. Requires collaboration with other teams within the organization to ensure accuracy.
• Manage Intercompany transactions including monthly reconciliations and quarterly allocations.
• Meet close deadlines (10 business day close or less) and prepare supporting schedules and journal entries as required in relation to Cash, Sales, Accounts Receivable and Intercompany.
• Support annual statutory and financial audits
• Create and streamline processes and documentation as needed for areas of responsibility, so as to enhance accuracy of data while minimising manual efforts
• Assist with the production of monthly reports

THE NON-NEGOTIABLES:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• International accounting experience (preferably USA & UK exposure)
• Experience in NetSuite and/or Sales/Financial Force a plus
• Experience in accounting for subscription service revenue a plus
• Personable, team player with ability to work with all employees at all levels
• Must be self-motivated, proactive, goal and deadline driven with excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets
• Must have strong communication (verbal and written) as well as strong numeracy skills
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting is required
