Basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993 in relation to Facilities and Construction Regulations promulgated under the Act
Duties and Responsibilities:
General maintenance of Facilities and repair of all air conditioning and related equipment, ensuring that the specific environmental conditions for all the different laboratories are metnon a continued basis
Performance of preventative maintenance tasks, identified during routine inspections or according to maintenance registers, to ensure the optimal performance of all the air conditioning and related equipment.
Performing routine inspections according to the maintenance registers
Fault finding and repair of all air conditioning and other facilities related equipment.
Keeping of maintenance registers, for all compressors, chillers, air handlers and humidifiers
The sub-contracting of repair and maintenance work, as needed and approved by
management, to competent contractors
The management of external contractors and the signing-off (verify that work was done professionally and according to the procurement order) of completed work
Attend to all emergency callouts, as informed by the CSIR Call Centre (control room).
