Architectural Researcher at SAOTA

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Searching the latest region-specific materials, technologies, and systems the industry has to offer.
• Be in touch with the ethos and design style of the SAOTA and ARRCC design teams to support them in making informed decisions regarding materials and products in their design projects
• Help establish a network of SAOTA-approved suppliers / manufacturers in strategic world regions.
• Perform topic-specific research surfacing the following information:
• Design considerations and guidelines for certain aspects of architectural designs, tailored to SAOTA / ARRCC design workflows
• Theoretical and technical information behind identified materials / technologies
• Assist design teams with the material selection and related resources for specific projects.
• Training staff (where necessary) in understanding the possibilities and limitations of architectural materials, elements and systems.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND CRITERIA

• Degree or Diploma: BArch / March / BA Interior Design
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Architect or Interior Designer
• Technical knowledge and experience with specifying architectural materials
• Technical understanding of architectural elements and systems, it’s limitations and possibilities
• Ability to accurately understand and interpret instructions
• Ability to work within set criteria and document templates
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Can perform work from home or at a hot desk in the office
• All Employees are required to have an uncapped 20Mbps (up/down) minimum Internet Connectivity line at their preferred remote working station.

ADVANTAGEOUS CRITERIA

• Prior work experience at SAOTA / ARRCC
• Prior experience in dealing with Architectural Libraries is advantageous
• Experience or good knowledge of sustainable design principles and materials
