Our client is an engineering company that manufactures and repairs mechanical equipment used in the mining and mineral industries.
We are looking for a highly driven and technically astute Area Manager whose primary responsibility will be sales and new business development across heavy industries, including mining, petrochemical, power generation, and related sectors.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong existing network in these industries and a track record of success in technical B2B sales.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and Richards Bay areas.
Responsibilities
Actively hunt and develop new business opportunities across relevant sectors.
Manage and grow existing customer accounts.
Promote the client’s full range of engineering solutions and services.
Conduct site visits and client consultations to understand requirements.
Prepare proposals, technical presentations, and quotations.
Negotiate deals and close sales to achieve/exceed targets.
Collaborate with technical teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
Maintain accurate records of all sales activity and customer interactions.
Represent the client at industry events, expos, and trade shows.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of B2B sales experience in heavy industry, mining, petrochemical, or related fields.
Strong existing client base or network in the relevant sectors.
Technical background – artisan/technical qualification or strong mechanical aptitude is highly advantageous.
Bilingual: English and Afrikaans.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and communicate technical information.
Strong understanding of capital equipment sales and long-cycle projects.
Proficient with CRM systems, digital communication tools, and MS Office.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Self-starter with a high level of motivation and initiative.
Willingness to travel locally and regionally as required.
