    Area Manager - Mthatha

    Description:

    Protect and grow market share and profitably within a division in accordance to the Division and Company strategy.

    Minimum Requirement:

    • Grade 12 with at least 5 (five) years retail management experience
    • Valid Drivers license and must be able and willing to travel extensively
    • Valid ID or valid work permit (local)
    • Must have strong accounting skills
    • Must be able to work under pressure
    • Must be computer literate
    • Must have strong leadership skills
    • Must have strong administrative skills
    • Must have own transport and cell phone
    • Must have sound knowledge of OHSA
    • Must have strong Human Resource skills

    Strategic Management

    • Develop, implement and manage a strategy plan for the Division by Store ensuring it is aligned with the overall Company strategy and strategic initiatives as approved by the Board of Directors from time to time

    Grow and Protect Market Share

    • Grow transactions, sales and market share in existing Stores as defined in the strategy plan
    • Achieve sales budgets and growth objectives by Category
    • Open up new Stores in line with the Division and Company strategic plan
    • Manage the promoting of the customer loyalty programmes (e.g. VIC, charge cards, etc)
    • Manage the advertising campaign within Division (Distribution, Budgets etc.)
    • Implementing of the Customer Service strategy
    • Relocate or refurbish old Stores
    • Develop action plans to protect the markets where competitors are entering the markets.

    Customer Service

    • Implementing and monitoring the Customer Service strategy
    • Maintain Customer Audits above 95%
    • Reliable, prompt Customer Delivery Service
    • Grow and maintain VIC client base
    • Achieve Transaction budgets
    • Recommend Range improvements to suite the market
    • Take action on Customer Surveys (implement action plans when required)

    Asset Control

    • Manage and control shrinkage within the Division by Store
    • Protect Assets (Cash, Stock and Fixed)
    • Managing Debtors and RD cheques within the Division by Store
    • Analyze security requirements and recommend changes. Implement and maintain physical measures

    Business Trade Licenses

    • Ensure that the all Trade Licenses are up to date and renewed timeously, where applicable

    Open New Stores

    • Ensure stores open according to program
    • Ensure Work to be carried out is according to set specifications
    • Ensure stores open within budget
    • Reporting of progress on site
    • Creation of project plans
    • Minimum store audit achieved
    • Ensure all orders placed according to project plan
    • Ensure orders placed according to budget
    • Ensure payments to suppliers and contractors coordinated
    • Sourcing of new sub-contractors and suppliers
    • Record of sub-contractors and suppliers used
    • Ensure range sheets received according to project plan
    • Ensure store layout according to standard specifications
    • Ensure planogram file distributed to stores according to project plan
    • Obtain sign off of store layout from Operations Director

    Refurbish relocate existing stores

    • Ensure stores are refurbished according to program
    • Ensure Work to be carried out is according to set specifications
    • Ensure stores open within budget
    • Reporting of progress on site
    • Creation of project plans
    • Minimum store audit achieved
    • Ensure all orders placed according to project plan
    • Ensure orders placed according to budget
    • Ensure payments to suppliers and contractors coordinated
    • Sourcing of new sub-contractors and suppliers
    • Record of sub-contractors and suppliers used
    • Ensure range sheets received according to project plan
    • Ensure store layout according to standard specifications
    • Ensure planogram file distributed to stores according to project plan

    Human Resource Management

    • Recruit and train Store Management and employees in line with the Company and Division strategy
    • Ensure sign-off of all Key positions in area of responsibility
    • Manage manpower requirements in line with the Company and Division strategy
    • Ensure Succession Planning & Career pathing is in place within the division by store
    • Ensure open communication/relations with the Store Employee Committee, staff and Management.
    • Manage OHSA
    • Ensure training & Development is in place for the Division by store.
    • Manage Employee Relations within the Division

    Maintaining Store Standards

    • Do Store visits and note actions to be taken by Store Management
    • Ensure Store Business plans are implemented and updated
    • Do a DMs Checklist per Store quarterly
    • Implement Action Plans (PIPs) where necessary
    • Monitor adherence of Company standard compliance in Division
    • Maintain Housekeeping standards
    • Maintain Merchandising standards
    • Authorise Delivery Service Contracts
    • Ensure stores are ready for business
