Artisan Aide (Welding) at Rand Water

Job Advert Summary    
Reporting to the Assistant Mechanical Foreman, the successful candidate will assist the Artisan in stripping, repairing, assembling and installing various types of machines and equipment.

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12
• 6 months working experience in a Mechanical Welding Workshop environment
• Code B driver’s license and the ability to pass the Rand Water K53 drivers evaluation.
• Safety Training.

Primary Duties    

• Assist Artisan in selecting tools and cleaning of machine/parts.
• Assist the Artisan in holding metal work in position while it’s been welded.
• Remove excess welding to even the area using a Grinder.
• Lift and carry all manufactured equipment, loads on a trolley and conveys to places of installation.
• Collect spares and material and ensure that enough material is available. Change and replace gas bottles.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the welding workshop. Remove all scrap metals off cuts from the workshop etc.
