Artisan Electrician (Industrial) - Treatment Works at Knysna Municipality

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Trade Certificate: Electrician   –   NQF 4
• 3 Years experience at Municipal Level
• Valid Code EB Drivers ’   License
• Computer Literacy
• Physically healthy and fit
• Be able to work at height s
• Handling stress –  Must have the mental stamina for dealing with stressful situations.
• Lift and carry heavy objects   –   Should be able to lift and carry heavy objects (<50 kg)
• Proficient in at least two o f the three   official languages in the   Western Cape Official

 KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Perform general electrical maintenance activities for pumps and motors of water reticulation and sewe systems with an emphasis on sewer motor control centres
• Reading and interpreting drawings/ sketches/ works orders detailing layout and specifications
• Receiving job cards on specific maintenance or repair work, taking measurements, calculating the size and amount of material needed for specific task and forwarding requisition to Senior Superintendent.
• Conducting preventative maintenance inspections and breakdown repairs on electrical water and sewer infrastructure (e.g submersible pumps, motors, compressors) to detect abnormalities and reporting findings to  the Senior Superintendent.
• Testing and disconnecting motor s and other central systems
• Basic   welding and soldering.
• Performing basic fitting i.e. brackets, etc.
• Installing and servicing actuators on valves.
• Perform basic fault - finding on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and associated equipment.
• Conducting preventative maintenance on Solar systems.
• Maintaining Odour Control electrical system.Installing, fault - finding and programming of soft starters of soft starters and variable speed drives.
• Conducting   quality checks and functional testing of own work as well as work performed by subordinates.
• Monitoring SCADA and reporting to Senior Superintendent.
• Liaising with contractors performing work on water and sewer infrastructure.
• Assisting department on an ad hoc basis with infrastructure activities as and when required.
• Co - ordinate work to be performed and guide the activities of subordinate
• Accountable management of all tools, equipment and vehicle whilst adhering to related systems and procedur
• Complete internal transactional documentation
• Assurance of a safe and healthy work environment and safe application of duties
